A. BIO.MED. Soc. Coop. Agr. A. r.l. – OP is a young and dynamic organization of manufacturers, among the most representative in the territory of sicily. Set in Sicily in the the province of Ragusa, aggregates several farms, operating in the production of vegetables and fruit quality. The production is achieved in respect of the environment and compliance with the standards required by large-scale distribution in several european Countries, in tune with the needs health and organoleptic characteristics expressed by the final consumer. Its mission is to guarantee the quality of the products and eco-friendly agriculture to combine respect of the environment and biodiversity with the requirements of freshness, healthiness and beauty of the product.
The team social is spread on a wide part of the territory of the Sicily (in the province of Ragusa, Siracusa, Caltanissetta, Agrigento, Catania, Enna and Palermo) with a surface production of more than 2,100 hectares, divided into 40% plants, greenhouses and tunnels, 46% in plants fruit and rest in vegetable crops in the ground. Agr. to.r.l. – OP offers a full range of products of the supply chain, from tomatoes (cherry tomatoes, piccadilly, datterino, to the cluster and the heart of an ox), the eggplant (round, long and violet), green bell pepper (yellow, red, green), to zucchini, to cucumber, watermelon, fennel, carrot, artichoke, up to peaches, nectarines, and clingstone peaches, apricot and plums. Headquartered in Catania, thanks the long experience gained by its researchers at research laboratories, public and private, with the objective of transform knowledge into an innovative idea through the assistance in the identification of useful technologies, the transfer of solutions and assistance in the management of innovation processes.
CoRiSSIA
The CoRiSSIA (research Consortium for the development of systems innovative agri-environment) is a public law institution founded in December 2001 pursuant to art. 5 of the Law Regional 88/1982 and started its activities in march 2002. The Consortium stands as the operating arm of the Regional Department of Agriculture and forestry, is a member of CoRiSSIA the University of Palermo.
The main activities of the CoRiSSIA are addressed to the enhancement in defense of food resources, genetic and innovation of production systems and agro-industrial in addition, it participates in the identification of guidelines agricultural policy sicilian, prepares projects aim of regional interest, carry out research projects applied, demonstration and training, and conducts activities for the the attainment of the purposes provided for by any other legislation for regional, national and community regarding the agro-environment.
